How to Quickly Indexed in Google and Yahoo?

Getting indexed in Google does not work the way you may think. I touched on this subject briefly in my last post when I talked about the Google Pagerank. Now I want to get a little more deep into it. Help you get your sites indexed. Let me first start off by giving you a short quiz. Let's see how much know and if you are already ahead of others.

What's the best and fastest way to get your site indexed by Google?
a. Go to the Google Submit page at www.google.com and submit your site.
b. After you finished building your site, leave it alone so the Googlebot will pick it up automatically on its own as it prowls around the web.
c. Call or email Google and let them know your site is ready to be indexed.
d. Link your website to another high PR site.

What's the answer? Which do you think will get your site indexed. . . .Is it a? b? How about c or d? They all sound like possibilities. Well let's walk through the ones that won't work to get to the answer that will.

c. Call or email Google and let them know your site is ready to be indexed.
This is a good one. I do not know Google's number to call them. If you do, let me know. On second thought, you keep it. I do not need it. As you've figured out by my sarcasm, c is not the answer. No way has any webmaster called or emailed Google and got their site indexed. I do not believe they have such a number or email address. Your better off using their submit page. Oops, did I give away the answer. Read on. . .

Ok ok ok. C was not my real answer anyway. I know what it is. It's a. I've done a. Alright, let's explore this answer.

a. Go to the Google Submit page and submit your site.
Not!!!! Wait a minute! Your telling me that the google submit page does not work? Hold on, I've used it. It's there, it exist! Yea I know it exist. It's located here Submit Page. However the question was how to get your site listed quickly? Yes you can submit your site using the submit page, but it won't get indexed quickly. The submit page is not the way unless you have months or years to wait. But if your like me. (impatient) Then submitting to the Google submit page is not the way to get your site indexed quickly. Let's put it this way, I have several sites and am working on building more. I have not yet submitted one site to the Google submit page, except for one. That was my first website when I did not know any better. The point is all of my sites are indexed in Google. Many of which were indexed in Google within 2-3 days!!! You read that right, 2-3 days. Do not believe me, try a yourself. Click the submit page above and submit it to Google. Post to me when your site gets indexed.

Well what about b. Let's explore b.
b. After you finished building your site, leave it alone so the Googlebot will pick it up automatically.
This is more of a myth than the rainbow with the pot of gold at the end. Not going to happen. How is the Googlebot to know your site exist in the first place to get to it? Wait, you thought the Googlebot was a imaginary robot I just made up to throw you off. Otherwise b would have been your answer, right. Well I did and it worked. But even if I did not do it, b would still have been the wrong answer. In all seriousness, the Googlebot is a robot or spider that surfs the web looking for websites to include in the Google Index. It roams the web all day everyday. Building the site is just the beginning. Once it's build it has to be promoted. To just build and leave a site alone, not sure why anyone would do it.

We've talked c or a not being the answer. b is not it. That leaves the answer has to be d. That's right. d is it. But why d, you ask. Here's why. I mentioned it a little already.

The Googlebot. On websites that have a decent PR, the Googlebot frequents those websites. To Google, these are important websites, so it checks back. It finds other websites through these. It will follow the links on the website to other websites and so on. If your site is linked to one of these sites your will be spotted by the Googlebot. Keep in mind that this does not mean that your site will get indexed. There is a high chance it will, but your site still needs to be setup with good content and follow basic seo practices. Also note that the Googlebot may not pick up all of your pages at once. It may only crawl so deep and then move on. It'll be back, so just continue to focus on the content of your site.

How will you know if the robot has visited your page. Check your stats. You do have those? Please say you do. How else will you be able to know how your site is performing. If you have detailed stats, it will show what robots have visited your page.

Robot has visited your page, but your still not indexed yet. Give it a little time. The Googlebot sends the request and it takes a little bit for it to actually show up in the index. If it does not appear, then the Googlebot may determined that your site was not useful to be included in the index. Again, I cannot stress it enough, focus on your content. If you still have your link to the decent PR site, the bot will be back to visit. Each time it visits, it crawls deeper and deeper into your site. You may get indexed on the 4th or 5th visit.

If you do this tactic effectively, your site will be indexed in Google within 2-3 days! Versus 6 month to a year or never with the submit page! Feel free to share your experiences with others. I am a constant student and love to learn from you.

Essential Tips for Search Engine Marketing

Search marketing or search engine marketing (SEM) is all about harnessing the search engines for marketing purposes. For some, it's an obvious decision whether or not to use search marketing. Others need a little more convincing. But first, let's understand how it works...

The major search engines - Google, Yahoo (a directory as well as a search engine) and MSN - generate "natural" or "organic" search results or listings, as well as sponsored (advertiser paid) listings, whenever someone performs a search on particular keywords or keyphrases. As you might imagine, listings that appear on the first page of results - whether paid or organic - tend to attract the vast majority of clicks on the links included in their listings and, consequently, traffic to their websites. Therefore, if you know that the target market for your website typically uses particular keywords or keyphrases to search for the kinds of information, products or services you offer... you want your listing to appear as high as possible in the search engine ranking pages or "SERPs".

Is the very first position on the SERPs the best position to have? Well, opinions vary. Many search engine marketers believe that the top spot on the free listings is the best... but not necessarily believe that the top spot on the paid listings is as profitable as, say, a couple of spots down. Ideally, in as far as the paid listings go, this is something you should test.

Since SEM incorporates both paid and free search engine rankings, the means of getting high up in the free versus the paid results necessitates a somehwhat different methodology. Search engine optimization (SEO) is how marketers get their websites and webpages ranking highly in the free results. This is part-science, part-art. The SEs use complex math to rank different sites and pages. Therefore, if you understand how this math works, then, presumably, you'll know what to do to get a high ranking. Trouble is, no-one knows how this math works! The SEs keep their algorithms close to their chests. Consequently, it's a bit of an art to try to work out the science!

Meanwhile, paid search incorporates pay-per-click advertising and pay-per-impression advertising.

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is as the name suggests: advertising where you pay each time someone clicks on the link in your ad. Some of the major advantages of PPC are that you only pay for the results you want - prospects clicking on your ad - and you can readily measure the effectiveness of a given keyword or ad by means of the click through rate (CTR).

The other form of paid search is pay-per-impression, where you pay a certain amount per 1,000 ad impressions (CPM). Google, in fact, uses a formula to determine how much you ultimately pay for a given advertising campaign that incorporates both the cost per click (CPC) and the CPM. I won't get into the complexities here, but suffice to say that you can end up paying the same amount of money regardless of whether you pay based on a click or an impression, depending on your CTR. Also, Google actually favors ads with a higher CTR and takes that into account when ranking them. So you can actually get a higher listing and still pay the same per click than someone else, provided your ad is more effective for that keyword or keyphrase in question.

Paying to appear in the SERPs can be a good way to get started in SEM. You can identify which words are the most effective in pulling customers to your website. You can test the popularity of a new product or service. And you can test the layout and copy on your landing pages (the specific pages that people see when they click on your listing).

Search marketing is well worth pursuing if you're serious about building a web-based business. But given the work involved, that does NOT mean that YOU need to manage all your search marketing efforts. You can always hire individuals or companies to optimize your webpages for SEO purposes, or to run your PPC campaigns.

Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing is an important tool used by many Internet marketing companies. Although this term has many definitions, all have the same meaning. Affiliate marketing is a huge business piece on the Internet. It is a cooperative effort between merchants and an affiliate's website. For many years now, affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-tern results. Many SEO campaigns have implemented it with great success, and it has become famous for Internet sites who are trying to make some extra or additional income for their site. Every day, people get interested to affiliate marketing and want to make money out of it. But in many cases, these new affiliates do not fully understand the affiliate world and make costly mistakes. In other words, affiliate marketing has often been misunderstood.

One of the common misconceptions associated with affiliate marketing is that the "selling" aspect is the primary one. Although selling is an important activity of affiliate marketing and the central function of a business operation. Another is that affiliate marketing is commonly linked with "advertising". While the importance of advertising in marketing a certain product is not to be underestimated, the fact of the matter is, advertising like selling, is merely a part of the many functions of marketing.

In affiliate marketing, an affiliate is compensated for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided through his efforts. The said compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit. The most attractive aspect of affiliate marketing from the merchant's viewpoint is that no payment is due to an affiliate until results are appreciated.

Affiliate marketing is typically being run by affiliate networks and this affiliate networks are composed of two functional bodies, the group affiliates and the group merchants. Each has their special function and role when it comes to affiliate marketing. The affiliate network acts as a third party between the merchant and the associated affiliates. The network provides the technology to deliver the merchant's campaigns and offers. The affiliate network also collects commission fees from the merchant and then pays the affiliates which are part of the program.

The merchant is any web site owner that wants or desires to take advantage of performance based marketing. The benefits to the merchant are many. First, the merchant maintains and operates the affiliate program. If it would be extracted, the merchant needs to do their part by researching interested affiliate websites to ensure that they are a good fit for that particular website. Finding a fit for their merchandise would be the key to more generated income. The merchant has access to markets and customers without him spending valuable time searching out. Banner ads on affiliate sites are not distracting to the site user. It might produce interest for that product and drive the consumer to the merchants' website. It is also the merchant who decides how much he is willing to pay for each sale that results from a visitor sent from an affiliate.

The affiliate or the affiliate marketer also sees a lot of benefits. The affiliate is a web site owner that promotes one or more merchants and their affiliate programs. Affiliate marketing can generate a full-time income for the affiliate. But this is not an easy task to accomplish. The affiliate needs to have a better understanding with the merchant what the commission will be, expected payment method and time involved in the contract. The affiliate has also the responsibility to stand for the merchandise their user based would be most interested in. For example, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then on-line job openings such as surveys would be a good match for them. This group would also appreciate direct links to children's products and informational sites. Merchandisers often provide targeted, best-seller items and personal support to their affiliate. They often offer sales promotions that will benefit the merchandiser as well as the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the marketer and the affiliate. If they would work together, they can be an advantage to both. Plus the fact that it seems to make sense, it is easy and inexpensive way to start, and you can be up and running within a few days. But there is one thing to consider, it is how to get traffic and make your offer different than all others.

Actually SEO services divided into three parts. The First one is known as pre SEO suggestion. In this particular SEO industry several SEO analysts are using this part before choosing the domain name of a site. They usually put the targeted market or most targeted key phrase into the domain name.

9. Do not forget to infuse your selected keywords into your web content for every page and those keywords should be relevant with the page content or topic.

10. Try to spread text links for important web pages from your main page (index page) of your website.

11. If the site is older but newly come to you then check whether their any black hat techniques are used or not, if so then remove them quickly.

12. Remember links of your all web pages should be short and easily accessible by search engine crawlers. Change unwontedly long links if exist.

13. Do not forget crawlers are unable to read image contents. So try to avoid images for placing your content and place contents within the text part of your web page.

14. Make sure that robot.txt of your site should be placed with appropriate instructions.

15. If your site has enormous pages then situate a site map at your website for visitors.

16. Canonical issue should be solved before starting off page optimization.

17. Try to place a common header and footer text within H2 tag. Here you can alternate your keywords for increasing keyword density.

18. Do not forget to situate a XML feed or a ROR sitemap at your site and the link of that feed should exist as a link at the index page of your website.

19. Ensure the important links of your website should be static. Try to avoid dynamic links for your important business pages.

20. W3C Validate is mostly required for SEO which ensures conformity of your site with all kind of browsers.

Google's new algorithm for page rank

Google has recently launched an update for its search engine's algorithm. Nicknamed "Jagger," this update has resulted to critical changes in the way that Google gives weight to certain factors that it looks at in coming up for PageRank. Because of this, there have been dramatic changes to Google's search results. Google for its part has claimed that it is only out to give out more relevant search engine results that would maximize the searcher's experience.

Over the weeks after the update was implemented, several sites that have not been placed in top spots have suddenly flew in ranking while some of those that have been ranked high previously have found their ranking fluctuating.

What is the update about? And what changes have been introduced into Google's system?

Older Sites See Prominence in Results

One of the three affected areas is the domain age or the website history. Google has decided to place emphasis on the site's age in calculating PageRank. One obvious effect of this is that older sites have suddenly appeared in the top spots of every search result page, outdoing the newer sites.

This change has brought about several questionable effects. If the older sites have a lot more information than the relatively newer site that has previously held the top spot, then it is good. But if they don't, then Google has inadvertently prejudiced against newer sites with better quality. By default, older sites have outdated information that would most likely be irrelevant or lacking information to help a web searcher in his quest for information.

On a positive note, the greater weight on the older sites has resulted to suppression of a black hat technique of launching multiple domains just to gain ranks.

Google Recalculates Values for Backlinks

Google has also made changes to how it gives value to backlinks, or links that point to a site. Previously, Google simply calculates the number of links that point to your site (treating it as a vote of support along the way) in coming with up your page's ranking. With this update, Google has now placed varying weights depending on the link's age. Newer links have lesser values compared to links that have existed quite a long way before. Google has adjusted its algorithm in a manner that links start to gain more weight after periods of time.

This update has affected those webmasters that resort to link buying to build up their inbound links. No longer could they depend on these methods to quickly gain rank because any new link posted for the site would still take some time before it could build up some weight to materially affect the site's ranking.

PageRank Loses Part of its Importance

The latest update has resulted to lesser importance for the PR value in the calculation of ranking. Google apparently has realized that a high PR value is not at all related to a website's relevance and importance to a search query. PR, after all, is calculated by the number of backlinks to a site together with an importance factor that is determined by how the site being pointed to is related to the site making the referral. High-quality links carry the heaviest weight in the calculation, since these links are coming from sites that are considered relevant (and thus important) to the site being referred.

PageRank has come under various abuses by some SEO experts that use black hat techniques to artificially inflate sites' PR values. While having high PRs serve little to the page's actual ranking in results, artificially high PR sites can once in a while swindle a link-buying webmaster to buy links from them.

This is related to the practice of PR buying, where a webmaster buys rights from a high PR site to post a link to his site. This practice stems from the long-running belief within the SEO community that a site being linked by a high-PR site gets the PR value of that site. Hence, webmasters buy links from high-PR sites for that purpose, although with the age delay addition to the algorithm this practice has lost its effectiveness.

There has been speculation that PageRank will be replaced by TrustRank, a similar algorithm used by Google's competitor Yahoo although this has never been proven by public statements. It is also said that Google might have decided that TrustRank is irrelevant. Since they are similar, Google could have concluded that its own PageRank algorithm is irrelevant as well, although most people find this unlikely.

Would you like to get more traffic from your business website? It's a rhetorical question, of course, because we all want more traffic for our websites. It's the first step to Internet marketing success.

In this article, I'll show you an easy way to increase your website's traffic levels (and overall success) through a systematic and proven technique. And you probably already guessed the technique based on the title of this article. Essentially, you are going to write one page of quality web content for each of your key phrases.

When combined with other aspects of search engine optimization, this will greatly improve your online visibility and traffic levels. Of course, the first step is creating a list of key phrases. So let's talk about that first.

We all know that people search for things online by typing certain words and phrases into their favorite search engine, such as Google or Yahoo. So in order to help these Internet searchers find your business website, you must integrate the right kinds of phrases throughout your website. This process begins with a thorough round of key phrase research.

Step 1 - Choose a Keyword Research Tool

There are several keyword research tools available online. WordTracker and Keyword Discovery are two of the most popular. Both of these tools charge for their service, but WordTracker does offer a free version of their tool. If your website is limited in scope (for example, if your business serves a particular niche in a particular town), then you can probably get by using the free version of WordTracker.

If you want your website to come up in search engines for relevant phrases that people are actually searching day in and day out, then you must -- you must -- spend some time building a list of key phrases. By key phrases, I mean phrases your target audience would enter into a search engine when researching products or services like yours.

There are a variety of keyword research tools online. Two of the most popular tools can be found at WordTracker.com and KeywordDiscovery.com. If your website is limited in scope (for example, if your business serves a particular niche in a particular town), then you can probably get by using the free version of WordTracker. Austin engine optimization search services.

Step 2 - Create a Spreadsheet With Key Phrases

Once you have access to a keyword / key phrase research tool, your next step is to set up an Excel spreadsheet or a Word document for your list of phrases. For starters, you only need two columns in your spreadsheet -- "phrase" and "count." Later on you can add columns for other purposes, such as keeping track of web pages you've written, your search ranking for each phrase, etc. But for now, you only need the two columns mentioned above, "phrase" and "count."

The phrase column is self-explanatory. This is where you list the phrases that relate to your business, the kinds of products or services you offer, etc. You will find these phrases by starting with a basic phrase and entering it into a keyword research tool, like the ones mentioned above. The tool would then generate a list of related phrases, along with the number of times people search them each day. This data goes into your "count" column.

Step 3 - Build Content Around Your Phrases

Think of your key phrase list as a blueprint for website growth. After all, the best way to grow your website is by building content around the phrases and topics your ideal audience is researching online!

And now that you have your blueprint in hand, all that's left to do is build content around it, specifically by creating one page of quality content for each unique phrase on the list.

When working with client websites, this is usually the first step in my process. I consider it "low-hanging fruit" because it's one of the easiest yet most reliable ways to climb the search engines.

It might seem overwhelming to create that much web content, but you don't have to do it all at once. Start with ten pages of content to support your top ten phrases. You can include variations of the same phrase on any given page, so that will help you make this task more manageable.

For motivation, you simply have to refer back to the truth of search engine visibility we discussed earlier. Your website cannot begin to appear in search engine results for certain phrases until you have those phrases on your website. That is what you're doing here -- creating the content needed for search engine success. Only instead of having one page focusing on dozens of topics (which is confusing to people and search engines alike), you are going to create one page per topic / phrase.

Helpful hint: If you're not much of a writer, you can outsource the writing projects using a website like Elance.com. I use freelancers through this website about once a month. Austin engine optimization search services.

Regardless of who writes your web content, make sure it's the kind of content your audience would find helpful. Then go back through it to ensure you have your key phrase spread naturally throughout the page. Austin engine optimization search services.

That's really all there is to it. It's not complicated, but it does require time and effort. And that's exactly why so many website owners neglect this process. It can be hard work. But who ever said online marketing was easy?

Engine internet marketing optimization search sing

The best course of action to take sometimes isn't clear until you've listed and considered your alternatives. The following paragraphs should help clue you in to what the experts think is significant. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Search engines have the main purpose to index thousands of millions of web pages. Once you look for a word or a phrase, the search engine scans automatically the entire database where it has the stored pages indexed and it returns to you as a result a list containing the most relevant results for that search. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

The only criteria the number of pages found and their relevance depend on are the capabilities of the used search engine. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Search engines appeared somewhere in the early 90's when Alan Emtage, a student at the McGill University in Montreal created the first search engine like too. It was called Archie. Its purpose was to search through the information available on the FTP servers. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

The files on these servers were available for anyone, but one couldn't use them unless knowing the exact address of the server and of the file. Archie looked through this database and gathered lists of files for each server. It was used by people to match phrases and characters in order to take them to the server address the file they were looking for was on. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Archie is now an old method, but its creation was the first step in the search engine rally that is going on now. As the public grew more and more aware of the existence of the internet, the need for a search tool became visible. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

You may not consider everything you just read to be crucial information about SEO. But don't be surprised if you find yourself recalling and using this very information in the next few days. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

So, first there were some software robots, using the concept of spidering to index the web, following links from one site to the other and saving the text from all visited websites in a database. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Between 1994 and 1995 three important search engines appeared: Lycos, WebCrawler and AltaVista. At about the same time Yahoo! appeared but Yahoo! is not a search engine. Yes, it has a search engine function, but yahoo is firstly a director or data and articles, providing different services as email and hosting. Recently yahoo has signed contracts with other search engines as Google for both of them to provide more search results. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Today search engines are in a continuous competition. There are thousands of search engines, but just a few big ones. This small group of top search engines is responsible for more than 90% of online searches. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

But the question arises: if search engines are free and they cam be used by everyone what keeps them financially alive? The answer to the question is very simple: advertising and traffic. The more visits they have, the bigger the traffic then the more money they can make providing promotion space. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Search engines are competing to develop the best formulas and algorithms to evaluate the web pages accordingly to the keywords provided. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

If someone is looking for a top position in search engines, then he has to be sure that his site is projected in such a way that search engines would find it easily, being relevant for the keywords and phrases the owner wants it to be found by. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Now that wasn't hard at all, was it? And you've earned a wealth of knowledge, just from taking some time to study an expert's word on SEO. Engine internet marketing optimization search sing.

Search engine optimization is important for getting a higher ranking on search engines - and thus more exposure to your website. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

However, it can be very expensive to engage the services of search engine optimization specialists to take care of this for you. In fact, some large companies pay many thousands of dollars just to get their websites to rank higher in Google, Yahoo and MSN. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

Of course not everyone has this kind of money in their budget to spend on SEO. As such most people choose to do SEO themselves. Just be aware that achieving a high ranking is not easy. If you have more time than money then naturally this is the preferred method. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

To help you get started, here are seven things you need to do to optimize your website to give yourself a fighting chance:

1. Title Tag

The title tag is the most powerful on-site search engine optimization you have, so use it creatively. What you place in the title tag should include the keywords that you are trying to optimize your page for. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

And most importantly - every single web page should have its own title tag!

2. File Name

Each webpage has to have a url/filename. For instance if you had a webpage on your domain that was talking about widgets then the url/filename would be: http://www.yourdomain.com/widgets.html

Proper SEO dictates that one of the things you absolutely MUST do is include your keyowrd in the filr name itself. Say you have a website about fishing are you are going to write a webpage on "fishing rods". Then you should name the page fishingrods.html OR fishing_rods.html. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

By including the keyword in the page filename you have already alerted the Search Engines as to what your page content is about. Let me illustrate how powerful this one trick really is.

I took some of my students pages, that were not even ranked in the top 500 SERPS (Search Engine Results Pages), and changed the filename, the title tag and the headline from a h2 or h3 tag to an h1 tag. After a few weeks those pages were getting ranked in the top 10 - 25 results. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

3. Headline

The next important factor - that all newbies and experienced alike miss - is the headline. Your keyword absolutely MUST be used in the first two to four words of your headline. As previously noted the headline should also be in h1 font size. Engine marketing optimization resource search web.

4. First Paragraph

Here is one that 98% of people miss. I have even seen a lot of people who call themselves SEO experts miss this one.

In the first sentence of your first paragraph you must peoperly use your main keyword for that page. If you are using more than one keyword then the other keywrods must also be used in that first paragraph - in the order you have them listed in your keyword Meta Tag for that page. web marketing search engine optimization resource

Many web designers and website owners believe in "If You Build It They Will Come". This attitude will get your web site nowhere fast.

Sure, if you build it you will get people that know about your company and know that you have made the site live come and visit, but you will not be unleashing the real potential of your web site.

Search engine optimization needs to be implemented from the beginning and to be ongoing if you want any sort of rankings for your website. The following are biggest mistakes in SEO that I see all the time.

1. Poor Choice of URL or Website Address

How many people, let alone search engines would know that www.til.com is all about travel guide, even though the letters stand for India Travel Guide? Adding a strong keyword in the URL like, www.travelindialocations.com would place this website in front straight away. It tells English literate humans and search engines that the site is about Travel Guide!

2. Lack of Adequate Keyword Research

Keyword research HAS to be carried out initially or else you may be placing your efforts into becoming popular for keywords that few people are searching for regularly.

3. Laziness

Laziness is also a major contributing factor. Many webmasters feel it is just too hard or too time consuming to do search engine optimization or write articles about what they do best. If you are not adding at least one page to your website every month, then you can't expect to be ranked very high for your important terms.

In situations where you just can't devote the time to search engine optimize your site I would recommend seeking the services of a professional search engine optimization company, such as our SEO firm;

Whatever your choice, make sure that any firm that you choose has the appropriate internet marketing qualifications to do the job well.

4. Aiming Too Low

Many people think "Well my site is only a small site, there is no way I will be able to compete with the larger sites that have top spots in the search engines". It is possible that that if you optimize your web site you may not be able to compete with the larger sites and may not be able to get a page 1 or 2 ranking in any of the search engines, BUT, what if you did? Always shoot for the stars so if you fall short you will at least hit the sky.

5. Lack of Planning

Simply said, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail." Planning is an essential factor in your SEO campaign. Knowing exactly what steps you are going to make and in what order and how you are going to go about achieving each of those steps will save you not only time but it will save you frustration as well. Planning is essential.

6. Too Many Changes Made Without Testing

Don't change your entire site all at once, instead, change a few areas at a time and see what results they produce. If you are satisfied with this then move on and optimize another section.

7. Failing to monitor Your SEO Progress

There are many ways to do this you will have to find the best method for you. You will need to monitor your search engine ranking for the keywords you are targeting after each update.

Changes should be recorded and used as references to monitor progress and for strategy adjustments. There are many tools for this process as well. I recommend IBP, Internet Business Promotion, will has most of the SEO tools that you need to get top rankings in the search engines.

8. Linking to "Bad Neighbourhoods"

These sites are also known as free for all (FFA) pages and link farms. They serve no other purpose other than to list tens of thousands of unrelated websites. Not only will these sites not provide your site with any traffic, certain search engines will ban sites who participate.

9. Over Optimisation

Trying to pull too many rabbits out of the hat at once, or "Over Optimisation" of your website.

Optimizing your web pages for a particular search engine can be a good thing. Over-optimizing can defeat the purpose, however. Search engines are catching on quickly to pages that appear over-optimized.

Stuffing key-words into your pages is the most common problem. Never use hidden (invisible) text to add keywords. Adding loads of links at once, even if they ARE related to your site. You will get caught, and your site will get banned.

10. Use of Doorway Pages

Using Doorway Pages to get unrelated pages popular. Doorway pages are orphaned web pages that are typically optimized for a particular key-phrase and a particular search engine.

They are promoted to the search engine in an effort to achieve high rankings. They are not linked back to by any other page on the website and, as such, search engines are able to flush them out quite easily and penalize the entire site.

One final note: Any company that tells you that it can achieve guaranteed rankings is either lying to you or using some of these Black Hat techniques. Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee a number one result within (unpaid) search results. When choosing a search engine optimization company to work with, be sure you feel comfortable with them and trust them

What's Your Advertising Style?

Advertising is actually a complicated process. It takes a lot of resources and effort on your part to make sure that you send out an effective ad, like your advertising posters, and then make certain that your messages are well understood by your target clients.

And it all depends on the advertising style that you use. When done right, your advertising style in your poster printing pieces for example, can adequately convey your message and get you the response you expect from your marketing campaign.

Are you the visual type? If you are, then most likely that your advertising style is guided by elements that create mental pictures for your target audience. Those people who are visually oriented are often dictated by what they actually see. They often interact with the world via the pictures they create in their minds. Statements that have the words ¡look, ¡see, ¡imagine, ¡picture, and ¡visualize are very common with these people.

If you have a visual type of advertising, your campaign is more likely to have pictures and graphics to explain what you would want to say to your prospects. This style is very effective if you're targeting those who respond more readily to images rather than words. So when presenting new information to your customers, the more colorful your presentation, the more likely you'll get a positive response from your target market.

Are you the auditory type then? Words such as ¡hear, ¡sound, ¡listen, and anything to do with your sense of hearing are often used by those who react to the world by using their auditory senses. As an advertiser, this type of ad is more likely to present your offer in recorded fashion and in a musical approach. When applied to your target audience, those who receive your message through your posters for example, would often repeat your message out loud for them to be able to understand better. So when using the auditory type of advertising, make sure that you take the time to explain new information to your target audience, as well as be able to answer all the possible questions that your target audience might put forward.

Or are you the kinesthetic/tactile type? If so, then your advertising is often made to propel your target clients to act and move on your message. To interact, action-oriented words such as ¡feel, ¡touch, ¡hold ¡grasp, and ¡move are very common in this type of advertising. You would want your target audience to get in touch with his or her emotions and the action involved in your message. Hence, when conveying new information, it's better to provide activities that would make your target clients go through the motion of completing a process or a procedure.

Learning the type of advertising you'll use to reach out to your target clients can help you provide a better and more effective marketing campaign that will surely have a positive response from your prospects.

Search Engine Rankings and Listing Tips

Top 10 Search Engine Rankings and Listing Tips

There are many companies offering first page ranking services guaranteeing top page listing in the major Search Engines for as little as £199, within 3, 5, 7 days.

The problem is the search terms that gain these results are unlikely to allow prospective customers to find your website.

For the website www.travelindialocations.com first page ranking can easily be achieved for the search terms, travel india locations, travel india location, corporate travel in India and www.travelindialocations.com. Technically this has completed the ranking companies side of the agreement, but no one looking for an accountant is likely to find the site.

The ranking company will tell you they can work towards gaining top ranking for your preferred keywords and terms, but it will take time and will cost you more.

So why not try and do it yourself?

How do you actually get top search engine rankings? Unfortunately the reality is that it will take time but there are several extremely effective techniques that are invaluable and will speed up the listing and search engine rankings process:

Submitting your site monthly to the major Search Engines using a guaranteed inclusion service such as www.premiumsubmission.com. Submitting monthly will increase the value of your website in the eyes of the search engines.

Change your site content and Meta Tags before each submission. This will over time enabling multiple listings for a single URL.

Incoming links from highly ranked sites. Try contacting sites similar to yours though not direct competition, and request mutual or ideally exclusive links to your site.

The frequency of keywords used in the text of your site.

Always choose a relevant for your submitted page. The title should reflect both your keywords and URL. Each link page should have a different relevant .

Avoid image only websites. Only a site made up mainly of text can be effectively placed in the major search engines.

Be imaginative with your key terms. Use variations that your competitors don't use to improve your ranking.

Flash only websites cannot be read by Search Engines and your site will not be listed at all. You should consider building an alternative site in HTML.

Give all your images an tag that relates to your search terms and keywords.

Most Search Engines give more importance to the text closest to the top and bottom of pages, so this is where you should aim to concentrate your keywords.

Search Engine rankings takes patience, there is no magic technique, but if you follow the steps outlined above over time you can achieve good placement and exposure for your website.

Search Engine Optimization

Merely submitting your site to search engines is not good until you make an effort to stay top in search engines for Search Engine Optimization. It requires a lot of planning and hardwork to maintain your site top ranking in search engines.

Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. In Search Engine Optimization we try to get higher ranks. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process. The most popular search engines are Google, Yahoo, MSN Search, AOL and Ask Jeeves. Search engines keep their methods and ranking algorithms secret, to get credit for finding the most valuable search-results and to deter spam pages from clogging those results. A search engine may use hundreds of factors while ranking the listings where the factors themselves and the weight each carries may change continually. Search Engine Optimization algorithms can differ so widely that a webpage that ranks #1 in a particular search engine could rank #200 in another search engine. New sites need not be "submitted" to search engines to be listed. A simple link from a well established site will get the search engines to visit the new site and begin to spider its contents. Search Engine Optimization can take a few days to even weeks from the referring of a link from such an established site for all the main search engine spiders to commence visiting and indexing the new site.

If you are unable to research and choose keywords and work on your own search engine rankings, you may want to hire someone to work "Search Engine Optimization" with you on these issues.

Search engine marketing and promotion companies, will look at the plan for your site and make recommendations to increase your search engine ranking and website traffic. If you wish, they will also provide ongoing consultation and reporting to monitor your website and make recommendations for editing and improvements to keep your site traffic flow and your search engine rankings high. Normally your search engine optimization experts work with your web designer to build an integrated plan right away so that all aspects of design are considered at the same time.

So keep working hardwork on Search Engine Optimization to maintain your top ranking in search engines .

SEO Techniques

Many website owners seem to forget the basics of being an online business owner. Use these methods to make sure your site is up to scratch and increase website traffic and search engine rankings. Create a website with valuable usable content, products and / or services that your target market will be interested in.

• Place primary and secondary keywords within the first 25 words in your page content and spread them evenly throughout the page.

Research and use the right keywords and/or phrases to attract your target customers. For example, Horse coule be a keyword and how to ride a horse could be the phrase.

Use your keywords in the right fields and references within your web page. These include Title, META tags, Headers, etc.

Keep your website simple so that it's simple and easy to navigate easily between web pages, and each to follow to products and any services including newsletters etc.

Submit your web pages i.e. every web page and not just the home page, to the most popular search engines and directory services. Hire someone to do so, if required. Be sure this is a manual submission. Do not engage an automated submission service. It may even be best to let Google automatically index your pages. There is debate over this and it cant harm to wait. Make sure all the meta tags are unique for each page.

Keep track of changes in search engine algorithms and processes and accordingly modify your web pages so your search engine ranking remains high. Use online tools to keep track of how your website is performing.

Keep an eye on your competitors and the top ranked websites to see what they are doing right in the way of design, navigation, content, keywords, etc.

Use reports and logs from your web hosting company to see where your traffic is coming from. Analyze your visitor location and their incoming sources whether search engines or links from other sites and the keywords they used to find you. There are a few and I can recommend one in particular. Email me and i ll be happy to share.

Make your customer visit easy and give them plenty of ways to remember you in the form of newsletters, free reports, reduction coupons etc.

Show that you industry and product or service expertise by writing and submitting articles for your website so you are perceived as an expert in your field. Also the more you write and research the more you will learn.

When selling products online, use simple payment and shipment methods to make your customer's experience fast and easy. Xoom is easy to set up and it's free to join.

If in doubt, hire professionals. Though it may seem costly, but it is a lot less expensive than spending your money and valuable time on a website which no one visits.

Add new content to your site on a regular basis. This way your regular visitors will not get bored.

Do this and you will be well ahead of most of so called online business owners on the net today.

SEO - Sitemap For Search Engine Optimization

What is Search Engine Optimization?

Search Engine Optimization is the process of enhancing the visibility of a website on search engine listings. It refers to a list of marketing tools required to arrange a website in order to increase its rankings in the context of the result of pages of search engines and directories.

There are two main types of factors in search engine optimization:

1. On page Optimization 2. Off Page Optimization

I was working in the field of search engine optimization from last three years, when I started optimizing sites there was not so many terms related with it. In my very first day at office my seniors taught me that doing optimization is getting back links for website. Back links with proper anchor text. At the end of the day I was satisfied that generating back links are only some thing which can optimize a website.

After completing three years in this field now I am well aware that only back links are not at all optimization of the websites. Now there are so many people who use to learn the techniques of search engine optimization from me. I guide them about both the ON page and OFF page factors of search engine optimization.

In ON page factor, there are something’s which is related to your own website and in OFF page factor, there are something’s which is related to the websites which are not yours. In ON page we use to do Meta Tag Optimization, proper content for the website, Alt tag optimization for the website, proper navigation for the website and much more activities through which we do changes in the websites. In OFF page factor we create back links for our website.

Sitemap is something which came in existence a few year’s back. People thought it’s a tool through which they can optimize their websites. In fact sitemap is an easy tool through which a site owner can inform search engines about the pages of their websites. Through sitemap people can create an index of the pages of their websites which are required for crawling by search engines. A sitemap can be created in XML format. This page will list the pages of the websites along with some Meta data for each of the URL’s which is listed in sitemap. These data can contain Change frequency, Last modification Time, and the priority of the page. Due to all these data, search engines can crawl more intelligently.

Sitemap is useful just because it contains all the information regarding all the pages of the websites at a single page. Hence, search engines can gather all the information regarding the website from a single page and due to this they crawl each page of the websites regularly.

Benefits of On Page Search Engine Optimization:

When creating or updating a commercial website it should be taken into consideration that the products are made more attractive for the viewers. At the same time it must be taken into account that the ability o gain more exposure with a broader target audience has its own benefits. Most websites need to reach out to a larger target audience in order to enhance their business. On Page Optimization allows a higher page ranking and based on a specific keyword or phrases they enter. This process identifies those keywords that will benefit a particular website and uses them in such a way that it gets a higher page ranking when those keywords are searched.

Most searchers only use first page displayed websites on their searches because this is where the pages with higher page rankings are displayed, which translates into these pages find the highest relevance to their keyword searches. This makes it even more vital that each website comprehends the significance and the knowledge necessary to adapt their websites to benefit from Search Engine Optimization.

Google advises against using more than 100 links on a page, many SEO advise no more than 50, and against having pages of more than 100 Kbytes in length. It seems that Google will index more than 100 links but it may take repeated visits to the page. Some search engines may not spider to the end of a long page. This poses a problem for large sites. First of all the site map should be more than just a series of links. Use headings (H1, H2, H3 etc.) to divide the links into themed areas and use your topic keywords in those headings. If your site is well structured this will probably follow the existing themes. If the map grows too large place topic areas into separate sub-site maps. This increases the depth of the site map so more important links should be on the main map but it is better to add depth to the sitemap than risk search engines giving up due to the quantity of links.

Optimize Your Website For Better Visitor Experience

This article describes in simple terms, practical and effective tactics used to optimize your website. Following these suggestions, will result in a more enjoyable visitors experience and traffic. At the end of this article there is a Reference and Resources section where you can find supportive information and services related to each topic.

Compatibility With Web Browsers

It isn't a surprised for website owners, webmasters and others who are involved in their websites optimization, to see how different the web pages are displayed in various web browsers or between different web browsers version.

Displaying differences it's the result of how the various available web browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.), or their versions, handle HTML code, HTML errors or computer screen resolution used.

Title and Meta Tags

Meta tags are information inserted into the [HEAD][/HEAD] section of the HTML code of any web page. There are many type of meta tags. We will be considering only two of them and the [TITLE] tag.

From the visitor's point of view, the only tag visible within the head section is the title tag, which is not a meta tag itself, but a stand alone tag found in the head section of the web page. Think of the title tag as the subject of an email message.

Two of the most important meta tags are the keyword and description tags which are invisible to the visitor's eyes but should be also included if you want your page information (title and description) to be properly displayed on the search engine result page (SERP) listing.

In the early days of the Internet, one could influence the search result by including keywords within the meta keyword and meta description tags you wanted the search engine (SE) to classify your page for, today you cannot influence the result of the SE by just adding desirable keywords anymore.

Keyword tag should contain between 5 and 10 keywords that appear on the body of your page. You should never include keywords in the tag that do not appear on that page.

The Importance of ALT Tags

Many web surfer and visually challenged people browse the Internet with the image viewing option of their web browser turn off or using text readers respectively. When one of these surfer visits your site containing lot of images, they won't be able to read the content of your pages if the images do not contain the ALT="your image description" tags.

Browser Safe Color Palettes

Computer platforms handle color differently, and the web browser limits colors significantly. In order to move through the digital world with consistency, the web page designer must be well aware of this fact.

While in the real world all colors are the result of some subtractive combination of three primaries colors: red, yellow, and blue. In the digital world all colors are the result of additive color synthesis or combination of three primary colors: red, green, and blue, referred to as RGB for short.

RGB values are derived from a method that numerically determines how much red, green, and blue make up the color in question. Each color contains a percentage of red, green, and blue.

If colors outside the safe palette are used, many web site visitors will see the color the computer has available instead of the color you have called for.

Check For Broken Links

Broken links are links that lead to nowhere, and clicking on the link will show you a 404 error code page. It is said that about 5% to 7% of all links on the Internet are broken.

A site that contains broken links, including missing links to images, gives a very bad impression to potential visitors and it is a frequent cause of lost visitors.

Check Web Pages Load Time

Many Web surfers today browse the Internet through a high speed broadband connection, but a significant percentage of those Web surfers still use slow speed dial up connection to access the Web.

Surfers are known for having a very short attention span and will leave your site before the page finishes loading. Generally speaking, the maximum accepted time for a page to load is about 10 seconds, and it is recommended that your page to be around 25Kb in size.

Decreasing the loading time of a web page can be easily achieved by both, compressing or shrinking the size of your images, and reducing the size of your HTML code.

HTML Code Optimizer

An HTML Optimizer removes all blank spaces in your HTML code, and this is another way to make your page load faster. The result is shorter downloading time. Pages will be shown in a client's browser in exactly the same way, but the file size will be smaller.

Make sure that the HTML optimizer you use does not compress embedded script codes within your page, which might be rendered unusable if they get optimized this way.

BORDER, HEIGHT and WIDTH Attributes

The attributes used with the [IMG] tag to specify an image width and height are the WIDTH and HEIGHT attributes indicating the exact size of your image in pixels. The other attribute that influences the way an image is rendered on the user's screen is the BORDER attribute, which should be set to zero if you don't want your hyperlinked image to show a blue border around it.

One interesting advantage to adding the height and width attributes to an image tag is that when you do specify the image size for all of your images, browsers take a lot less time to render your page. To find out the width and height of an image, just open it with any image editor and look for its property.

Validate Your HTML Code

Just as texts in a natural language can include spelling or grammar errors, documents using markup languages like HTML may, for numerous reasons, not be following these rules. The process of verifying whether a Web document actually follows the rules for the language it uses is called validation.

Different browsers, or versions of the same browser, will make different guesses about the same illegal code; even worse, if your HTML code is really bad, the browser could get confused and produce a mangled display mess, or even crash. Validating your HTML will help ensure that it displays properly on most browsers.
